Ecopha Wins Best SAF Feedstock Solutions at India SAF Awards 2026
Ecopha Biotech has been officially awarded “Best SAF Feedstock Solutions — International” at the India SAF Awards 2026, a significant industry milestone and award recognition for the company’s work in sustainable aviation fuel feedstock technology. The award highlights Ecopha’s integrated bioeconomy platform and its proprietary Pongamia oil co-production technology.
The recognition comes as the aviation industry accelerates its decarbonisation efforts, with sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) emerging as a critical pathway to reduce carbon emissions from air transport. Feedstock availability and sustainability remain key challenges for SAF scale-up, and Ecopha’s approach addresses this through its SoloSAF™ platform — an integrated system that co-produces Pongamia oil for SAF alongside high-value biomaterials and PHA biopolymers.
Dr Wilson Ling, founder of Ecopha Biotech, emphasized that the award validates the company’s strategy of building a circular bioeconomy platform rather than pursuing single-product pathways. The SoloSAF platform leverages Pongamia, a hardy leguminous tree that thrives on marginal land without competing with food crops, fixing nitrogen in the soil while producing oil-rich seeds suitable for SAF production. The platform simultaneously generates protein meal for animal feed, biochar for soil amendment, and feedstock for PHA biopolymer production — creating multiple revenue streams from a single regenerative agriculture system.
Ecopha’s approach has attracted partnerships across the value chain, from farming communities in Indonesia and Bhutan to international fuel producers and polymer manufacturers. The company’s Pongamia Oil Co-Production Platform, for which Ecopha has filed PCT patents, enables the simultaneous production of SAF feedstock, high-performance PHA biomaterials, and regenerative agriculture outputs — a model the company terms “integrated bioeconomy.”
