IMG Group launches Everbio Innovation Hub in Portugal with EUR 15 million investment for circular polymer R&D
IMG Group has inaugurated the Everbio Innovation Hub at its industrial site in Portalegre, Portugal, marking a EUR 15 million investment in a dedicated circular polymer research and development platform. The hub brings together the capabilities of the group’s subsidiaries — Evertis, Selenis, Renascis and Renewis — under a single integrated ecosystem designed to accelerate the development and industrialization of recycled and bio-based polymer solutions.
The investment is backed by C2 Capital Partners, a European private equity firm focused on sustainable infrastructure and circular economy projects. Anchored by the industrial expertise of Evertis in PET-based packaging films and Selenis in specialty copolyester resins, the Everbio hub operates as a global industrial platform bridging laboratory innovation and commercial-scale production.

The hub’s inaugural technology, perPETuity, is a solvent-free delamination process that converts complex multilayer plastics into PET flakes exceeding 99.9 percent purity, suitable for food and healthcare packaging applications. Developed by Evertis, perPETuity addresses one of the most persistent challenges in plastic recycling: the separation of multilayer structures that dominate flexible packaging but resist conventional mechanical recycling.
By integrating in-house testing and coextrusion capabilities at scale, the Everbio platform enables brands to meet recyclability and recycled content targets without compromising performance specifications. The facility’s co-location of polymer production, advanced recycling and renewable energy operations — through Renewis — creates a closed-loop industrial environment where material flows, energy supply and process optimization are managed holistically.
The launch comes at a critical inflection point for European industry. The EU’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) mandates that all packaging on the EU market be recyclable by 2030, with escalating recycled content targets and stringent traceability requirements. IMG Group positions Everbio as infrastructure that enables EU-based businesses to secure their supply chains against regulatory shifts while advancing circularity goals.

Evertis specializes in PET-based packaging films for food, medical and consumer goods applications. Selenis develops specialty copolyester resins for packaging, textiles and technical applications. Renascis focuses on advanced multilayer recycling technologies, while Renewis manages the group’s renewable energy commitments. Together, they represent a vertically integrated polymer value chain from resin production through film conversion, recycling and green energy supply.
The Portalegre site has been IMG Group’s industrial anchor in Portugal for decades. The Everbio hub repurposes and expands existing infrastructure rather than greenfield development, reducing capital intensity and time-to-market for new circular technologies.
