Emirates Biotech is pushing forward on its mega-project — and lining up serious partners to do it.

Sulzer as Equipment Partner

Emirates Biotech and Sulzer have deepened their strategic partnership through an equipment supply agreement. Sulzer, a global leader in fluid engineering and polymer processing, will supply critical plant components for the PLA production facility in the UAE.

Samsung E&A as General Contractor

Samsung E&A has been selected as the main EPC contractor. The South Korean firm brings large-scale industrial project experience — essential for a plant aiming to be the world’s largest bioplastics production site.

PLA from Food Waste

The facility will produce PLA from food waste, sourced through the European CIRCLE Consortium. It’s a clever approach: the UAE imports food, generates waste, and that waste gets converted into bioplastic. A local feedstock loop with global impact.

Strategic Significance

The project fits squarely into the UAE’s strategy to build domestic bioplastics production and reduce dependence on imported materials. It also aligns with the national sustainability and circular economy agenda.
