Irish global supply chain management group Zeus Packaging has continued its aggressive international expansion strategy with the acquisition of Koex Packaging Solutions, a specialist manufacturer based in Spain. This move significantly strengthens Zeus’s vertical integration within the European market, particularly in the realm of high-performance flexible packaging and extrusion technologies.

Strengthening European Extrusion Capabilities

The acquisition of Koex Packaging Solutions provides Zeus with advanced manufacturing infrastructure in the Iberian Peninsula. Koex is renowned for its expertise in co-extrusion technology, a critical process in the production of multi-layer flexible films. By integrating Koex’s assets, Zeus aims to enhance its control over the supply chain for food and industrial packaging, reducing reliance on third-party suppliers and improving speed-to-market for Western European clients.

The deal allows Zeus to leverage Koex’s capabilities in producing down-gauged films. These materials maintain high strength and barrier performance while reducing overall plastic usage, aligning with current EU packaging waste regulations.
